學者有四失

放下工作,才有機會讀到「學者有四失」一節。

《禮記‧學記》:

「學者有四失,教者必知之。人之學也,或失則多,或失則寡,或失則易,或失則止。此四者,心之莫同也。知其心,然後能決救其失也。教也者,長善而救其失者也。」

語譯如下:

學生的學習往往有四種失誤,教師必須瞭解。

有人失誤於學得過多而不求甚解;

有人失誤於學得過少,知道一些就滿足了;

有人認為太容易,生起輕忽,不認真學習;

有人失誤於半途而廢,或自我設限,不求進步;

這四種失誤是由於心理狀態不同所致 。

只有瞭解他們的心理之後,才能挽救這些失誤。

教育的目的,就是發揚其長處,挽救其失誤。

 
就讓自己從新做個學生,不要失於多、寡、易和止。

A PRAYER

PRAYER FOR TEACHERS (author unknown)

Lord, it helps me to remember
that You were a teacher.
You were a lot of other things
but there is something very human
and reassuring
in Your giving the world of life
to restless, uncertain people.
You never used a chalkboard ,
corrected exams,
or sat through a graduation ceremony.
But you rejoiced with men and women
and little children
who discovered for the first time
what it means to be sons and daughters
of a good Father.
Grant a full measure of Your Spirit
to those whose task it is
to awaken minds and hearts
to the wonders of creation,
the insights of science,
the relation of cause and effect.
They often get discouraged, Lord.
Lift them up by Your example and power.
 Amen.
